Creative Arts

CA 426: Creative Arts is a course that looks at the art and humanities in visual, performing, and media forms. This class uses these forms to critically analyze major themes and principals which give me a better understanding of the art forms and the contributions they have made to our society.

This class is interesting. I never looked at art the way in which it is looked at in this course. Labyrinths are an example of an art form that has been a part of almost every culture around the world but were not influenced by one culture or another culture. In a paper about the movie "Black Swan," I looked the content, context, cohesiveness, form, and intentions of the film and the art that I witnessed while viewing the film.

Humanities

HUM 425: Thought and Images is a required core course for Liberal Studies. This class looks at the art and humanities of other cultures. The arts that we focused on included movies, murals, and books written by African, Mexican, and Indian artists.

Although we did not get to do any projects due to the 150 student class size, we did have to write a few papers analyzing the works that we discussed in the class and read on our own. I have included one paper that I wrote below.
